Los Angeles—The Dodgers humiliate the Yankees 18-2 to win the series in this World Series rematch. Will Warren got the start for the Yankees, and Landon Knack took the mound for the Dodgers.
Trent Grisham worked a walk to lead off the ballgame but was quickly erased on a 5-4-3 double play off the bat of Aaron Judge, as the Yankees went scoreless in the top of the first.
The Dodger quickly took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning via a RBI single from Will Smith to drive in Shohei Ohtani, and allowing Freddie Freeman to go first to third. The next batter, Max Muncy, made it a 2-0 game with an RBI single right back up the middle. A couple batters later, Michael Cofroto drove in another run with a sac fly to extend the Dodgers' lead to 3-0. The next batter, Tommy Edman, slapped a RBI double down the third base line just past the diving Jobirt Vivas to make it 4-0.
Max Muncy put the Dodgers up by a touchdown and knocked Warren out of the ballgame with a three-run home run to make it 7-0. Brentt Hendreak replaced Warrren on the mound and gave up a single, followed by an RBI double to Edman to make it 8-0. A couple of batters late, Hyeseong Kim launched a two-run home run to make it 10-0, as this is getting embarrassing.
Will Warren's final line: 1.1 innings pitched, six hits allowed, seven earned runs, four walks, and two strikeouts on 57 pitches. Warren threw his fastball 35% of the time, the sweeper 25%, the sinker 21%, the changeup 16%, and the curveball 4% of the time. Warren has been great over the last month, but unfortunately, when the Yankees needed him the most, he folded.
This game has been miserable so far, through two innings, I might take the rest of the night off unless something drastically changes. I have zero interest in writing about a game where the Yankees are down by 10 runs.
Judge blasted his 20th and 21st bombs of the season at least he showed up tonight, absolutely embarrassing the Dodgers own the Yankees.
