New York—The Yankees got absolutely embarrassed 12-1 by their rivals, the Red Sox. If you missed that game, consider yourself lucky. Will Warren got the start for the Yankees and faced off against one of the best pitchers in baseball, Garrett Crochet.

In the top of the first inning, Warren worked around a two-out walk and picked up his first strikeout of the ballgame to put together a scoreless frame.

Cody Bellinger legged out a two-out infield single in the bottom half of the first inning. But Giancarlo Stanton struck out to strand Belli.

Amed Rasorio lined a single to center field to lead off the bottom of the second inning. José Caballero then worked a two-out walk, but Austin Wells popped out to strand two runners; at least they got a runner to second base already better than yesterday.

In the top of the third inning, with one out, Warren served up back-to-back singles followed by a walk to load the bases. Then, with two outs, Trevor Story drove a two-run double to left field to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead, after Wells missed a pop-up in foul territory.

A sacrifice fly from Roman Anthony made it 3-0 Red Sox in the top of the fourth inning. Alex Bregman followed that up with a sac fly of his own to make it a 4-0 game.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Stanton got the Yankees on the board with his 16th home run of the season, the other way into the short porch to make it a 4-1 game.

The Red Sox got that run right back in the top of the fifth inning as Trevor Story launched a solo home run the other way to make it a 5-1 game and end Will Warren's day. Tim Hill took over for Warren and picked up the final three outs of the frame.

Will Warren's final line: four plus innings pitched, seven hits allowed, five earned runs, three walks, four swings and misses, and three strikeouts on 69 pitches. Warren threw his fastball 49% of the time, the sinker 29%, the sweeper 12%, the changeup 6%, and the curveball 4% of the time. Warren was terrible today, giving up 10 hard-hit balls when we needed him most.

Hill remained in the game for the top of the sixth and picked up the first two outs, and served up a one-out single. Paul Blackburn then came in to replace Hill and make his Yankee debut, and picked up the final out of the inning.

Blackburn stayed in the game for the top of the seventh inning and worked an easy 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Aaron Judge lined a double into the right-center gap. Belli followed that up with a single to right to put runners on the corners. However, Stanton and the pinch-hitting Jazz Chisholm Jr. struck out to strand runners on the corners.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Red Sox tacked on another run via an RBI single from Jarren Duran to make it a 6-1 game. A couple of batters later, Nathaniel Lowe dunked in an RBI bloop single to make it a 7-1 game. Ceddanne Rafaela picked up an RBI single of his own to make it an 8-1 game, as the Red Sox are embarrassing the Yankees in the biggest series of the year so far for the Yanks. It looked like the inning was finally over, but Anthony Volpe air-mailed a throw on a routine play to make it a 9-1 game. A balk from Blackburn allowed another run to score, making it a 10-1 game, as the Yankees can’t do anything right. The next batter, a former Yankee, Carlos Narváez, launched a two-run home run to make it a 12-1 game.

The Yankees went down scoreless in the bottom of the ninth to end this embarrassment of a game 12-1.

The Yankees will look to avoid being swept tomorrow with Carlos Rodon on the mound, facing off against Dustin May. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET on ESPN.

My thoughts on the game: Just an embarrassing performance all around. In the Yankees' biggest series of the season so far, they completely lay an egg, as the Yankees can’t beat good teams and now have lost eight straight to the Red Sox. No quotes today, that game was too pathetic.
