Boston—For the first time in 113 years, the Yankees managed to score only four runs in a three-game series at Fenway Park, falling 2-0 to the Red Sox and being swept for the first time this year. Max Fried got the start for the Yankees, and Bryan Bello got the nod for the Red Sox.

Trent Grisham led off the ballgame with a double off the Green Monster. A couple batters later, Cody Bellinger worked a two-out walk. However, Jazz Chisolm Jr. rounded out to end the Yankees' threat.

In the bottom of the first inning, Anthony Volpe had an E6 to allow the leadoff man, but immediately redeemed himself, turning a double play on the next pitch. Fried then served up a triple. The next batter, Trevor Story, continues to own the Yankees as he blooped in a RBI single to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.

Ben Rice lined a much-needed single with one out in the top of the second inning. A couple batters later, Cody Bellinger legged out a two-out infield single. But Rice was picked off to end the inning as the Yankees' base running haunts them for the third game in a row.

Fried worked into and out of trouble with the help of the second double play of the ballgame off the bat of Rafael Devers.

Devers made it a 2-0 game in the bottom of the fifth inning via a solo home run that just cleared the monster.

Fried picked up two more strikeouts in the bottom of the sixth to put his total up to eight for the day as he retired the Red Sox in order.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Fried retired the Red Sox in order and picked up his ninth strikeout of the ballgame.

Grisham and Paul Godlscmidt started off the top of the eighth inning with back-to-back singles. However, Aaron Judge grounded into a double play to kill the rally.

Mark Leiter Jr. took over for Fried on the mound and worked a scoreless inning with a couple of strikeouts.

Max Fried's final line: seven innings pitched, six hits allowed, two earned runs, two walks, 15 swings and misses, and nine strikeouts on 106 pitches. Fried threw his fastball 43% of the time, the curveball 23%, the sweeper 11%, the sinker 9%, the changeup 8%, and the cutter 5% of the time.

The Yankees went down in order in the top of the ninth to end this one 2-0 as they get swept for the first time this season.

The Yankees will head back to the Bronx to start a new series tomorrow against the Angels. Clarke Schmidt will get the start for the Yankees, and Jose Sariano will take the ball for the Angels. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET on the YES Network.

My thoughts on the game: The Yankees were flat-out embarrassed in Boston. Fried did his job tossing seven innings of two-run ball, but the offense just didn't get it done. Leiter also looked great out of the bullpen. Not much more to say about that series, very frustrating, have to bounce back this week and take at least three out of four from the Angels.
