Baltimore—The Yankees dropped game two of this four-game set 4-2 to the Orioles, due to some costly errors and a lack of offense. Will Warren got the starting nod for the Yankees and faced off against Trevor Rogers.

In the top of the first inning, Paul Goldschmidt, Aaron Judge, and Cody Bellinger went down in order for the Yankees.

Warren worked a nice and easy 1-2-3 bottom of the first inning and picked up his first two strikeouts of the night.

Ryan Mountcastle launched a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning to get the scoring started and give the Orioles a 1-0 lead.

Austin Wells worked a two-out walk in the top of the third inning, and Goldy followed that up by getting hit by a pitch. But Judge struck out looking to strand two runners on base, as Aaron Boone and Judge were not happy about a strike earlier in the count.

Warren put together a scoreless bottom of the third inning thanks to a nice diving catch from Judge.

In the top of the fifth inning, Jazz Chisholm Jr., Austin Slater, and Anthony Volpe went down in order as the Yankees still don’t have a hit.

Austin Wells sent a ground ball single right back up the middle for the Yankees' first hit of the ballgame. But the Orioles left fielder Dylan Beavers made two spectacular catches, one leaping catch at the wall to rob Godly, and a diving catch to rob Judge.

Errors from Warren and Jazz led to a sacrifice fly from Mountcastle to make it a 2-0 game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Fernando Cruz replaced Warren on the mound and immediately walked a batter, leading to an RBI fielder's choice from Samuel Basallo to make it a 3-0 game.

Will Warren's final line: 5.1 innings pitched, four hits allowed, three runs, one earned due to the errors, two walks, 10 swings and misses, and four strikeouts in 87 pitches. Warren threw his fastball 39% of the time, the sweeper 20%, the curveball 16%, the sinker 15%, and the changeup 10% of the time. Warren was solid tonight, but he and Jazz didn't do himself any favors in the sixth inning, and the offense gave him zero run support.

"I think the plan's always the same. Just get ahead, attack the zone, and execute pitches," Warren said. "I think stuff you know usually goes your way."

In the top of the seventh inning, Austin Slater dunked in a bloop single. The next batter, Jazz, launched a two-run home run, his 30th of the season, to join the 30/30 club, making it a 3-2 game. Jazz is the third 30/30 player in franchise history, Bobby Bonds in 1975, and Alfonso Soriano in 2002 and 2003.

"It's great. I wish it would have came with a win today, but it's great,” Jazz said.

Cruz remained in the game for the bottom of the seventh inning and picked up the first out. Tim Hill then took over for Cruz and gave up an infield single followed by an RBI double from Gunnar Henderson to make it a 4-2 ballgame. Camilo Doval was called upon to replace Hill and picked up the final out on just one pitch.

Ben Rice, who pinch hit for Goldy, worked a one-out walk in the top of the eighth inning. Judge followed that up with a line drive base knock to left field. But Belli and Giancarlo Stanton grounded out to strand two runners on base.

Mark Leiter Jr. replaced Doval on the bump and worked a scoreless inning.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Yankees went down in order to end this one 4-2 and waste an opportunity to pick up a game on the Blue Jays.

The Yankees will look to bounce back tomorrow with Carlos Rodon on the mound, facing off against Tomoyuki Sugano. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET on the YES Network.

My thoughts on the game: Warren was solid tonight, but unfortunately, he and Jazz’s errors ultimately ended up costing the Yankees this game. Jazz joined the 30 home run, 30 stolen base clubs, which was awesome, but the Yankees lost, spoiling that moment. Jzz was able to achieve 30/30 even with missing all of May, 40/40 isn't out of the question next year. The Blue Jays also lost, so the Yankees wasted an opportunity to pick up a game on them, and the Red Sox are also on their way to a win, so they will be just one game back from the Yankees with eight games to play. On to tomorrow as the Yankees have to bounce back with Rodon on the bump.

"I've been saying that [since] I was a rookie, so I definitely think 40/40 is very achievable in a full, healthy season," Jazz said.
