MinnesotaThe Yankees scored 10 runs for the second night in a row to take down the Twins 10-5 and win the series. Luis Gil took the ball for the Yankees and faced off against Taj Bradley.

Aaron Judge lined a two-out double into the right-center gap in the top of the first inning. The next batter, Cody Bellinger, dunked in an RBI bloop single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first inning, Gil faced the minimum thanks to a 3-6-3 double play to end the inning.

Gil served up an RBI single to Royce Lewis in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game up at 1-1. A wild pitch from Gil allowed another run to score, giving the Twins a 2-1 lead.

With one out in the top of the third inning, Trent Grisham launched a long home run 432 feet away, his 32nd bomb of the season, to tie the game up at 2-2.

Paul Goldschmidt lined a one-out double into the right field corner in the top of the fourth inning. Jasson Dominguez followed that up with an RBI double to put the Yankees in front at 3-2. Jose Caballero then worked a walk and stole his 48th bag of the season. The next batter, Grisham, crushed a three-run home run of the game, his second of the game and 33rd of the year, to make it a 6-2 ballgame. Grisham now has 12 home runs since the start of August, which is the most in baseball in the stretch. Ben Rice then ripped a double into the right field corner. Judge followed that up with a line drive single to left field to put runners at the corners. A balk from Twins starter Bradley allowed Rice to score, making it a 7-2 game.

"I mean, I feel good, but I mean, I think it's ebbs and flows, I don't feel good every single night," Grisham said. "It's more of a mental battle getting up, getting up and getting ready for the game and, really, trying to stay locked in."

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Gil worked a scoreless inning with some help from Jazz, who made a beautiful play

"Excellent play there by Jazz," Gil said. "I'm running out of words to describe what's going on in my mind when I see him make a play like that. It allowed me to settle in during that inning and keep making pitches."

"I don't know, I honestly didn't even see where I threw the ball," Jazz said. "I just threw it and hope I made the play."

Luke Keaschall made it a 7-3 game via an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning. A couple of batters later, Brooks Lee lined a two-run single off the glove of the leaping Caballero, making it a 7-5 game and putting the Twins right back in this game. Fernando Cruz replaced Gil on the mound and picked up a lineout to strand two runners on base.

Luis Gils' final line: 4.2 innings pitched, nine hits allowed, five earned runs, two walks, seven swings and misses, and two strikeouts on 85 pitches. Gil threw his fastball over half the time at 56%, the slider 27%, and the changeup 16% of the time. Gil was far from great tonight, giving up nine hits and five runs, allowing the Twins to get right back in this game.

"I felt stronger and more under command tonight, especially with the fastball," Gil said. "I felt that executing the fast ball was probably the better pitch tonight. And like I said, I just felt stronger with the fastball."

Cruz remained in the game for the bottom of the sixth inning and worked an easy 1-2-3 inning.

Devin Williams took over for Curz on the mound in the bottom of the seventh inning and worked around a leadoff single, picking up three strikeouts in the process.

In the top of the eighth inning with one out, Dominguez was hit by a pitch and then stole second base, his 23rd of the season. Ryan McMahon then came through with an RBI single to extend the Yankees' lead to 8-5.

Luke Weaver replaced Williams on the mound in the bottom of the eighth inning and navigated around a leadoff single, recorded a strikeout, and worked a scoreless frame.

Judge cranked a one-out single to left field in the top of the ninth inning, his third hit of the night. Belli followed that up with an absolute bullet of a two-run home run, just clearing the wall in right field, his 29th of the year to make it a 10-5 game. The 24th time this season, the Yankees have scored 10 runs or more, which is the most in baseball.

"We just got a bunch of good guys that are coming together right now, I mean, we've been putting up the at-bats all year, " Grisham said. "I have a lot of faith in every guy in the lineup, I think, 24 times with 10 runs, I mean, that's special to be a part of."

Camilo Doval was called upon to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning and retired the Twins in order with a pair of strikeouts to end this one 10-5 and give the Yankees the series win.

The Yankees will now head to Baltimore to take on the Orioles in a four-game series. Max Fried will get the starting nod for the Yankees and face off against Cade Povich. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET on FOX.

My thoughts on the game: Yankees offense scored 10 runs for the second night in a row, which is how you respond after getting embarrassed in game one. Gil didn't have his best stuff tonight, giving up nine hits and failing to get through five innings. Grisham led the charge offensively with two home runs and four RBIs. Belli had two hits, a home run, and three RBIs as the Yankees couldn't have asked for much more from Grisham and Belli this year. It will always blow my mind that the Yankees chose to play Alex Verdugo over Grisham last year. Judge also had a big night with three hits, bringing his average to .329 with a 1.132 OPS, and he could be on his way to his third (should be fourth) MVP. The bullpen was excellent tonight as Cruz, Williams, Weaver, and Doval combined for 4.1 shutout innings with six strikeouts. This was the best Doval has looked as a Yankee tonight; hopefully, he can get it going before October, as that would be a massive boost for the Yankees' bullpen. On to tomorrow as the Yankees will look to keep it going against the Orioles with their magic number to punch their ticket to the playoffs down to seven.
