Trent Grisham’s two-home run game helps lead the Yankees to a 10-4 win over the Pirates

Pittsburgh—Game two of this three-game set here at PNC Park between the Yankees and Pirates, as Marcus Stroman took the ball for the Bombers, and Baily Falter got the ball for the Buccsos in the Yankees 10-4 win.
Falter retired Paul Goldschmidt, Ben Rice, and Aaron Judge to set the Yankees down in order in the top half of the 1st inning.
Marcus Stroman worked around a two-out double by Pirates center fielder Oneal Cruz, as Stroman picked up three groundouts in the bottom of the 1st inning.
A pitch hit second baseman Jazz Chicholm Jr. to lead off the top of the 2nd inning. Then he stole second base, and a couple of batters later, catcher Austin Wells hit an RBI single up the middle to make it 1-0 Yankees.
Marcus Stroman worked a nice and easy 1-2-3 bottom of the 2nd inning on nine pitches for the Yankees.
Yankees center fielder today Trent Grisham led off the top of the 3rd inning with a solo bomb to right field to make it 2-0 Yankees. The next batter, first basemen Paul Goldschmidt, hit a line drive single to left field, but that was quickly erased as Aaron Judge grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the top half of the 3rd.
Marcus Stroman set the Pirates down in order in the bottom half of the 3rd inning as he picked up his second strikeout of the ballgame in the process.
Falter set the Yankees down 1-2-3 as he struck out Jazz and shortstop Anthony Volpe in the process in the top of the 4th inning.
Stroman did not have it in the bottom of the 4th inning as he walked back-to-back hitters, then gave up an RBI double to Pirates third basemen Ke’Bryan Hayes to make it a 2-1 game. Then a couple of batters later, first basemen Enmmanneul Valdez hit a 2-run double off the right field wall to make it a 3-2 Pirates lead. The next batter, shortstop Isaih Kiner-Falefa, hit an RBI groundout to make it a 4-2 ballgame.
"I felt pretty good overall. I just got into some deep counts in that 4th and walked a few guys," Stroman said. "I felt good overall, but you just can't put free guys on base."
The Yankees rookie left fielder Jason Dominguez led off the top of the 5th with a double down the first line. The next batter, third baseman Oswald Perza, hit a single to left to put runners at the corners. Then Trent Grisham Deposited a 3-run bomb into the first couple of rows in the left field seats to make it a 5-4 Yankees lead.
The Yankees then quickly loaded the bases again for Anthony Volpe as he launched a bases-clearing double to make it an 8-4 Yankees lead in the top of the 5th inning.
"I've just been doing a really good mentally staying in the present." Grisham said, "The swing has been here and there offensively, but I have stayed really locked in mentally."
Tim Hill came in to replace Stroman on the mound in the bottom half of the 5th inning as he worked around a leadoff walk with the help of a nice 6-4-3 double play by Jazz and Volpe.
Paul Godlshidt hit a two-out double in the top of the 6th inning, but that was all the Yankees could do, as he was stranded.
Hill came back out to pitch the bottom of the 6th and gave up an infield single. Mark Lietier Jr. came in to replace Hill, and Volpe and Jazz teamed up to turn another beautiful double play, this time 4-6-3, to end the inning.
Jazz hit a nice one-out double that one hoped off the center field wall, then immediately stole third base but got gunned down at the plate on an Anthony Volpe fielders choice in the top of the 7th inning.
Fernando Cruz came in to replace Leiter in the bottom of the 7th inning and worked a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.
Oswald Peraza picked up a one-out double, then a couple of batters later, Paul Goldschmidt came through with an RBI single to left field, his third hit of the game to make it a 9-4 Yankees lead in the top of the 8th inning.
Ryan Yarbrough came in to replace Cruz in the bottom of the 8th inning and struck out the Pirates in order.
Judge led the top half of the 9th inning with a single to right field, then a couple batters later, Volpe crushed a double to right field, his second double of the ballgame. The next batter, Austin Wells, picked up a sacrifice fly to make it a 10-4 Yankees lead.
"It's just been relentless, and we're just really taking tough at-bats." Yankees manager Aaron Boone said, "For the most part, we're scoring a lot, and a lot of our guys are swinging the bat well. Its not always going to be that thought you are going to have nights where you get shut down a little bit."
Yarbrough picked up two more strikeouts in the bottom of the 9th inning as he closed out a 10-4 Yankees win.
The Yankees will go for the sweep tomorrow as Will Warren will make his second start of the season for the Yankees. The first pitch will be at 1:35 p.m. ET if the weather allows them to play.
