The Rangers took down the Yankees 6-1 to put an end to their five-game win streak. Will Warren got the starting nod for the Yankees and faced off against Nathan Eovaldi.

Corey Seager sent a solo shot into the short porch in right, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. Warren picked up his first two strikeouts of the ballgame as well.

Cody Bellinger lined a two-out single to right in the bottom of the first, but Jasson Dominguez went down on strikes to end the inning.

In the top of the second, Warren navigated around a pair of two-out singles and picked up three more strikeouts, putting his total up to five early on.

The Rangers tacked on three more runs in the third inning thanks to an Ezequiel Duran RBI double and a two-run bomb from Evan Carter to extend the Rangers' lead to 4-0.

Duran extended the Rangers' lead to 5-0 in the fourth with a sacrifice fly, and Seager sent an RBI single up the middle to make it 6-0.

Yerry De Los Santos took over for Warren in the top half of the fifth and retired the Rangers in order.

Final line for Warren: Four innings pitched, allowing seven hits, six runs, walking three, and striking out five on 90 pitches to raise his ERA to 3.46. Warren threw his sinker 36% of the time, the fastball 36%, the sweeper 22%, the changeup 6%, and the curveball 1%. Warren topped out at 96.7, sitting at 94.2 on his heater and had 12 wiffs tonight.

“I think my stuff is good,” Warren said. “I think when I attack the zone and execute what we're supposed to do, then we're gonna have success.”

Yerry remained in the game and put runners at the corners with nobody out, but picked up a couple of strikeouts and a lineout to work into and out of trouble.

Aaron Judge got the Yankees on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with his MLB-leading 15th home run of the season to make it 6-1.

Yerry came back out for the seventh and worked a 1-2-3 inning, picking up his fourth punchout of the ballgame.

In the top of the eighth, Yerry picked up the first out, Ryan Yarbrough replaced him and picked up the final two outs.

Eovaldi retired Austin Wells, Ryan McMahon and José Caballero in order in the bottom of the eighth inning as he continues to own the Yankees.

Yarbrough came back out for the ninth and worked a scoreless inning. Belli worked a two-out walk in the bottom of the ninth, but Dominguez grounded out to end the ballgame and snap the Yankees' five-game win streak, setting up a rubber game tomorrow.

The Yankees will look to win the series tomorrow. Ryan Weathers was originally scheduled to take on the mound, but Aaron Boone just announced he will miss his start with an illness, so the starter is TBD. Whoever it is will be facing off against MacKenzie Gore. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:35 p.m. ET on the YES Network.

“I lost nine pounds in two days,” Weathers said. “Couldn't really eat anything, couldn't drink anything. So, got an IV today and feel a lot better.”

My thoughts on the game: Eovaldi continues to own the Yankees; he now has a 1.65 ERA in his last nine starts against the. Warren didn't have it tonight, but he was due for a rough outing. Yerry was great tonight, saving most of the bullpen, after Warren could go just four innings. He will probably be rewarded with being sent down to be replaced with a fresh arm. Yarbrough was solid. Judge hit his 15th homer of the year, which was about the only positive tonight, as the offense had only three hits. On to tomorrow, if the Yankees win the series, this game won't matter as much.
