New York—The Yankees dominated the Mariners 10-3 in game one of this three-game set in the Bronx. Will Warren got the starting nod for the Yankees, and Logan Gilbert took the ball for the Mariners.

Warren worked around a leadoff infield single to put together a scoreless top of the first inning.

Jasson Dominguez, Aaron Judge, and Cody Bellinger went down in order in the bottom of the first for the Yankees.

Oswald Peraza made a nice running grab at third base to help retire the Mariners in order. Warren also picked up his second strikeout of the game. Peraza will likely get the majority of the starts at third base until the trade deadline, with Jazz Chisholm Jr. officially moving back to second base as of today.

"Yeah, I mean, it's fluid just with our situation right now. But I want to get him back there and play in and just take advantage of his athleticism there," Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on moving Jazz back to second.

In the top of the fourth inning, Warren worked a 1-2-3 inning and picked up his fourth strikeout of the ballgame.

In the bottom half of the fourth inning, Belli singled right back up the middle to extend his hit streak to 13 games in a row.

In the top of the fifth inning, Warren gave up back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners; the game then went into a 35-minute rain delay in the middle of JP Crawford's at-bat. Following the delay, Warren needed just one pitch to work out of trouble as he got JP to ground out.

Paul Goldschmidt led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a single to left field, and Austin Wells followed that up by working a walk. A couple of batters later, Peraza legged out an RBI infield single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.

Warren picked up the first two outs of the top of the sixth inning and walked two batters. Tim Hill took over for Warren on the mound and picked up the final out of the inning.

Will Warren's final line: 5.2 innings pitched, four hits allowed, two walks, five swings and misses, and four strikeouts on 85 pitches. Warren threw his fastball 42% of the time, the sweeper 26%, the sinker 13%, the curveball 12%, and the changeup 6% of the time. Warren looked great tonight, going toe to toe with one of the more respected starters in the MLB in Gilbert.

Judge led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a line-drive single right back up the middle. Belli followed that up with a single of his own. Giancarlo Stanton then launched a three-run bomb into the short porch in right field to make it a 4-0 game.

"Yeah, I think it's some good steps, just staying inside the ball and getting some lift to it," Stanton said. "Yeah, I feel like I've been having one or two good at-bats a game, and I need to make that four or five to continue to get results."

Goldy Knocks lined a double into the right-center gap, and the next batter, Austin Wells, launched a two-run home run to make it 6-0.

"This is what he's capable of," Boone said of Wells. "And when he's you know, when he gets it going at the plate, to have the catcher be able to swing the bat like he's capable of with the power. Just feel like he's been getting good pitches to hit, and that's what it starts with. Maybe his move is a little better, getting them into stronger positions, but he's really hit four or five balls now on the screws the last couple of times out, which is encouraging to see."

"Just getting some good pitches to hit, giving myself a little bit more time to see the ball," Wells added.

Hill remained in the game for the top of the seventh and retired the Mariners in order.

Judge launched his 34th home run of the year the other way into the short porch in right field with one out to make it a 7-0 game. Belli followed that up with his third hit of the night, and Stanton then picked up a single of his own. The next batter, Jazz, just missed a home run off the wall in right field but did pick up an RBI double to make it 8-0. Goldy Knocks then sent a two-run single right back up the middle to make it a 10-0 game.

Geoff Hartlieb replaced Hill and gave up a single, followed by an RBI double to Julio Rodríguez to make it a 10-1 game. Cal Raleigh then launched his Major League-leading 36th home run of the season to make it a 10-3 game. Ian Hamilton took over for Hartlieb and got the final two outs of the inning.

Scott Effross was called upon to take over for Hamilton and picked up the final three outs of the ballgame to end this one 10-3.

The Yankees will try to win the series tomorrow with Cam Schlittler making his Major League debut, facing off against Logan Evans for the Mariners. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET on the YES Network.

My thoughts on the game: It was an outstanding performance all around for the Yankees tonight as the offense exploded following the rain delay. Warren looked great tonight, firing 5.2 innings of shutout baseball. Goldy Knocks and Belli each had three hits on the night. Judge and Stanton each had two hits and a home run. Jazz had an RBI double; it was just a great night from the offense all around tonight, with 13 hits and 10 runs. Peraza also looked great at third base tonight, making a couple of beautiful plays. Onto tomorrow with a chance to win the series; I’m really excited to see what Schlittler can do in his debut.

"Yeah, really good," Boone said on the infield. "You know, I thought Peraza made a couple of really good ones over there. A little bit of an in-between hop and a great, great pick by Goldy on one of those. But yeah, I thought Jazz looked good, you know, handled the pivot, you know, that's the one thing."
